The Board of Directors of the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), has approved the granting of aid to Stolt Sea Farm for the implementation of the FEMPA PHILSTOP innovation project, “Research and development of a genomic selection program for turbot broodstock resistant to the parasite Philasterides dicetrarchi”.
The total budget of the project is €877,034.74, of which €745,478.65 has been awarded in the form of partially reimbursable aid.
This aid is co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund through the operational program of the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund 2021-2027 (EMFAF: https://ec.europa.eu/oceans-and-fisheries/index_en).
The overall objective was selection for disease resistance, thereby improving fish health and welfare and increasing the sustainability of the farming process. The project results have made it possible to incorporate into the STOLT broodstock individuals improved for growth and resistance to P. dicentrarchi through genomic selection.
The project was carried out at the hatchery facilities owned by Stolt Sea Farm in Quilmas (A Coruña). The project partners included the Acuigen Group from the University of Santiago de Compostela, CETGA, Geneaqua, Benchmark Genetics, and Imasde Agroalimentaria.
