The Board of Directors of the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), has approved the granting of aid to Stolt Sea Farm for the implementation of the FEMPA PHILSTOP innovation project, “Research and development of a genomic selection program for turbot broodstock resistant to the parasite Philasterides dicetrarchi”.

The total budget of the project is €877,034.74, of which €745,478.65 has been awarded in the form of partially reimbursable aid.

This aid is co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund through the operational program of the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund 2021-2027 (EMFAF: https://ec.europa.eu/oceans-and-fisheries/index_en).

The general objective is selection for disease resistance thereby increasing the health and well-being of the fish, and increasing the sustainability of the farming process.

The execution of the project is being carried out in the facilities of the hatchery owned by Stolt Sea Farm in Quilmas (A Coruña), starting in January 2023 and ending in December 2025. The project involves the Acuigen Group of the University of Santiago de Compostela, CETGA, Geneaqua and Benchmarck Genetics and Imasde Agroalimentaria.
