Stolt Sea Farm and Kaleido Tech launch joint innovation programme: Aquaculture Tech

Stolt Sea Farm is pleased to announce the launch of its new innovation programme, Aquaculture Tech, as part of the SAWS Tech initiativeto identify the best new technologies to help improve the aquaculture industry.

Stolt Sea Farm has joined forces with logistics innovators, Kaleido Tech, to identify and define the most pressing challenges for the aquaculture industry that can be solved using the latest technological advances. Working with a range of industry stakeholders, the aim of the programme is to test new innovations through pilot projects run within Stolt Sea Farm operations, assessing their effectiveness and viability for wider industry implementation.

Each pilot project is run by the member of Stolt Sea Farm staff who developed the idea for the potential solution, giving them a real sense of investment in the development of the business and wider industry. We are already working on projects to assess improved efficiencies from self-cleaning tanks through upwelling, changing routines in hatcheries, and collecting data from biomass scanners.

As leading pioneers in the sustainable production of turbot and sole, we have a long history of investing in innovation. We are confident that our expertise, coupled with Kaleido Tech’s experience of developing technological solutions for other industries with similar challenges to ours will result in some exciting new ideas that will benefit our entire industry.

The programme was launched in 2020 at our site in Carnota, Spain, and will run for an initial one-year period with potential to extend the partnership.
